DEBORAH CLAY

Deborah Clay has held the role of News Director at two of Australia’s largest media organisations – ARN and Southern Cross Austereo, overseeing transformational change management strategies.

As National News Director for ARN, Deborah conceptualised and developed bespoke news strategies for eleven dynamic audio brands including KIIS 1065 in Sydney and Gold 104.3 in Melbourne. She managed a large team nationally – which included recruiting and coaching journalists for on-air presentation and held roles on various executive teams.

Prior to that, she worked as Sydney News Director at Southern Cross Austereo and was part of SCA’s Sydney executive team and diversity committee.

As well as reporting from the scene of bushfire crises, crime and court cases, and Royal appearances, Deborah’s unique interviewing style is built upon a foundation of authentic curiosity.  She has interviewed all walks of life, including Prime Ministers, CEOs in the financial, business and not-for-profit sectors, celebrities and everyday heroes experiencing extraordinary events. Deborah received Commercial Radio Australia’s Brian White Award for Radio Journalism, recognising sustained excellence in Journalism.

An experienced commentator, she has contributed to panels for Sunrise, Weekend Sunrise, The Morning Show, The Drum and Sky News UK.  Deb is honoured to contribute to the charity ‘A Friend’s Place’ which grounds itself in the values of empathy, integrity and authenticity.
