The New Home Appeal
Help create a new home for the National Centre for Childhood Grief (NCCG) to care for bereaved children and their families.
The NCCG and its core children’s program A Friend’s Place, have to move urgently to new premises. Your help is needed to transform the new centre into a welcoming and friendly place, so bereaved children and their families can continue to find support and care.
Our challenge
After 23 years in our old centre in Denistone East, the landlords have sold the property to developers. The NCCG has been very fortunate to find an excellent new premises in Hornsby. These premises are three times larger, so we can care for the ever- increasing numbers of families requesting our services. We can also create more spaces for group programs, cooking, a games room and outdoor play and creativity spaces.
Now our challenge is to renovate and furnish this old medical clinic to suit children and families visiting for personal and group programs. The old centre had the charm and familiarity of a family home – a perfect place for children to remember and cherish memories with their parent or sibling who has died. We need to recreate that familiar and friendly feeling at the new centre.
“The old centre was so warm and friendly. It was this homely feeling that helped me to relax and make the most of the help the amazing counsellors gave me after Mum died. I really hope they can continue this comfort at the new centre for other kids like me.”
